Overview

Starting and ending in Kathmandu, this 11 night / 12 day itinerary is considered to be one of the most comprehensive programme allowing you  a touch of luxury with comfortable lodges, mouth watering menu, experiencing the local culture and the breathtaking views of the Annapurnas. The Annapurna Comfort Lodge Trek is especially designed with 4 to 5 hours of easy walking each day. This programme is combined with sightseeing tours of Nepal’s capital city Kathmandu which has it’s amazing history for many centuries, visiting one of the most natural beautiful city of the world, Pokhara. This style of itinerary is designed to be pleasant and easy-going so that you and your family experience full enjoyment. This trip offers an unparalleled breadth of colour and life with luxurious accommodation allowing you time and space to savor the delights and relax into your holiday.

TRIP ITINERARY

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be met by our Himalayan Hikers representative and transferred you to the hotel. The drive from the airport to the hotel is around 20 minutes.After your check in the group leader will set a time for your trek briefing to discuss in regards to the trek. The evening is free but your trek leader will organise a welcome dinner at a fine local restaurant. Overnight : Shangri – la.

 

Today, you will visit Bodhnath Stupa, one of the biggest Buddhist shrines in the world and Pashupatinath ,the main temple for the Hindus. Here you will see Hindu holy men (sadhus) meditating, pilgrims bathing, and occasionally funeral pyres burning on the “ghats”. The rest of your afternoon is free. In the late afternoon you will be handed over with your trek pack. Departure information for the next morning will also be given. Overnight : Shangri – la. Meals included: B

Transfer to the domestic terminal and fly to Pokhara, with a flight time of about 30 minutes. There are spectacular views of the main Himalayan chain to the north, including the 8000 metre peaks of Manaslu and Annapurna during this short flight. After arriving in Pokhara you are transferred by private transport to Nayapul from where we start the trek. You leave Nayapul following  the Modi Khola River to Birethanti where you will have your trekking permits checked. We follow the Modi river valley where our lodge is located.The lodge has magnificent views of the sacred and unclimbed Fishtail Mountain, or Machhapuchhre, as it is locally known. A picnic lunch is provided with a late afternoon arrival at the lodge. (Trektime – 1.5 hours). Overnight Sanctuaray lodge. Meals included: B, L, D

After breakfast, we leave the lodge walking out through the outlying farms following the Modi River Valley. Soon we begin to climb out of the valley & up towards the mountains. The trail passes through small hamlets, terraced rice fields and forests with spectacular views of the surrounding valley. Snacks are provided along the trail. Hot lunch is served on arrival at the lodge in the early afternoon. (Trek time 5-6 hours). It is from this lodge that there are magnificent close up views of the Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and the Fishtail. Overnight Himalaya Lodge. Meals included: B, L, D

We wake up this morning with tea and coffee served in the garden and watch the sunrise over Annapurna South, Annapurna 1, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and the Fishtail. After enjoying a relaxing breakfast and the glorious views from the Himalaya Lodge, our guide will take us on an exploration of this mountain village and the surrounding countryside. Ghandruk was once a major recruitment centre for the famous Gurkha soldiers. The women of Ghandruk maintain a local industry of weaving traditional Nepalese rugs. Overnight Himalaya Lodge. Meals included: B, L, D

After enjoying a relaxing breakfast and the glorious views from the Himalaya Lodge, we start our trek to to Lhandruk. After leaving the village of Ghandruk, the trail descends steeply to the banks of the Modi River. Here, you’ll be at the base of the cliffs where the famed honey hunters of Nepal climb on ropes to collect the honey. You’ll then cross a strong suspension bridge to the opposite banks of the Modi. From here is it about a hour’s trek up switch backs and steps to reach the village of Lhandruk. Lhandruk affords more glorious views of the Annapurna range. Trek time about 4 hours. Arrive in time for lunch. Your guide will take you on a exploration hike of this mountain village after lunch. Overnight Bee Lodge. Meals included: B, L, D

After breakfast, we leave the Bee Lodge & trek to Ker & Downey’s Gurung Lodge. Todays trek contours the side of the hill, with small ups and downs, passing through villages and farmland. Trek time to the Lodge is about 4 hours. You’ll reach the Gurung Lodge in time for lunch with optional afternoon hikes to the surrounding villages.Overnight Ker & Downey Gurung Lodge. Meals included: B, L, D

 

This morning we start out trekking through the unspoiled village of Patlekhet. Our walk takes us through sub-tropical forests that include tree orchids, rhododendrons and magnolias. Along the way, we will stop at the village of Pothana where many Tibetan traders live and sell their souvenirs. After about 3 ½ hours, we arrive at the Basanta Lodge. From the lodge, there are sweeping views of the entire Annapurna Range. After lunch at the lodge there will be an optional walk through the old village of Dhampus.Overnight Basanta Lodge. Meals included: B, L, D

 

After breakfast, we depart along the ridge & descend through the wooded hillside and terraced farmland to the valley floor. Trek time 1 ½ hours. We then transfer by vehicle to to our Hotel. On the way back to Pokhara, the vehicle can stop on request at the Tibetan refugee camp where you will have time to explore the temple complex. We’ll arrive at the Hotel in time for lunch. You’ll have a chance to enjoy lunch and dinner at local restaurants. The afternoon is free to explore the lakeside where most of Nepal’s Tibetan curio shops are located.In the evening there is the option to dine out at one of the many lakeside restaurants. Overnight: Shangrila village or similar. A free day in Pokhara to explore, shop or just take it easy. Your trek leader will be there to assist you for further sightseeing’s in Pokhara. Overnight: Shangrila village or similar. Meals inlcuded: B

After breakfast we are transferred back to the airport in the morning for our return flight to Kathmandu. On arrival in Kathmandu we are met and transferred back to our starting hotel. The rest of the day is free to do shopping or further sightseeing.Our final night in Kathmandu gives us a chance to go out on the town and enjoy a final dinner (optional) with our travelling companions and new-found friends. Overnight: Hotel Shangri – La or similar. Meals included: B

Our trip ends today after breakfast. Your leader will be on hand to advise and assist with your onward travel arrangements.
