For many hundred's of years pilgrims worldwide have trekked to this region to pay religious respect at many of the 100 glacial fed lakes of Lord Shiva and other Deities. The lakes are situated at about 4400m. It is said that Lord Shiva, after drinking the poisons of the world, drove this three pronged fork into the earth to drink pure water to quench his thirstThis amazing adventure combines the diversity of spectacular views of the Himalayas with a vast number of exciting ethnic encounters. The highlights of Langtang Circuit trek are numerous however the main areas of interest are the rhododendron and bamboo forests with an abundance of wildlife, majestic waterfalls flowing over mammoth boulders, a chance to bathe in soothing hot springs, magnificent views of the snow covered white giant Langtang Lirung (7,200m/23,622ft), Visiting the holy lakes of Gosainkunda.
 

Itinerary

 

Day 1 : Kathmandu (1360m)

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be met by our Himalayan Hikers representative and transferred you to the hotel. The drive from the airport to the hotel is around 20 minutes.After your checkin the group leader will set a time for your trek briefing to discuss in regards to the trek. The evening is free but your trek leader will organise a welcome dinner at a fine local restaurant.

 
Day 2 : City Tour (1360m)

Today, you will visit BodhnathStupa, one of the biggest Buddhist shrines in the world and Pashupatinath ,the main temple for the Hindus. Here you will see Hindu holy men (sadhus) meditating, pilgrims bathing, and occasionally funeral pyres burning on the “ghats”. The rest of your afternoon is free. In the late afternoon you will be handed over with your trek pack. Departure information for the next morning will also be given. Meals included: B

 
Day 3 : Syabrubesi (2285) drive 6 to 7 hours

Today we drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi.It takes about six hours by bus or private vehicle depending on group size. You head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabru Besi passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli river you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. As you pass through Dhunche you feel as if you are heading towards deep land. At the same time, you notice that the road is still under construction. overnight at syabrubesi. Meals included: B, L, D

 
Day 4 : Lama Hotel (2390m) 6 hours

You start the trek following the Langtang Khola.You will follow this river for the next few days.Today the trail undulates steadily through forests of oak and rhododendron. After passing the Langtang Kholabridge we climb steeply up a winding path finally arriving at Lama Hotel, not far from the rushing waters of the Langtang Khola. We stop here for the night. Approx: 6hrs of trekking. Meals included: B, L, D
 

Day 5 : Langtang (3520m) 6hrs of trekking

Ascending through the forest,we will have glimpses of Langtang Lirung through the trees, before arriving at GhoraTabela (3,048m). There was once a Tibetan resettlement project here, but now the only residents are the soldiers of the Nepalese army post. The trail continues to climb up the widening valley, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock here in the summer months. In spring the forests are ablaze with rhododendrons. Shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang (3,307m), headquarters of the Langtang National Park there is a monastery, which we might be able to visit. In Langtang the houses here are Tibetan style and are surrounded by fields of wheat, buckwheat and potatoes. Meals included: B, L, D
 

Day 6 : KyanjinGumpa (3850m) 4 hours

As we continue our climb beyond the village, the valley opens out to reveal spectacular mountain views.To our left the impressive Langtang Lirung towers directly above us and ahead is the great snow-covered bulk of Ganchempo. At 3,849m we come to the monastery of Kyanjin, well above the Langtang River. In the afternoon we can either head up a side valley to the foot of the Langtang and Kyimoshung glaciers, or climb onto some of the surrounding ridges for close up views of Langtang Lirung and the beautiful mountain so called the Fluted Peak. Meals included: B, L, D
 

Day 7 : Rest Day in Kyangin Gumpa (3850m)

We spend a day at KyanjinGompa with a chance to explore the area. There are various optional day walks around here. The most popular walk is up to KyanjinRi (4,350m) and KyimoshungRi (4,620m). These two viewpoints above Kyanjingompa offer some of the most stunning mountain views in Nepal. An impressive array of peaks surrounds us - Langtang Lirung and Kyimoshung whose huge glaciers tumble to the valley floor. Straddling the Tibetan border areDorjeLhakpa, Ganchempo and a whole host of 6,000+m peaks whilst across the valley are Naya Kang and the Ganja La pass. For the very energetic there is the chance to climb TsergoRi (often written CherkoRi) - at 4,984m.. Another option is walk towards the Tibetan border and Langshisha, where we get wonderful views of the mountains bordering Tibet. Meals included: B, L, D
 

Day 8 : Lama Hotel (2390m) 5 to 6 hours

We leave Kyanjin and retrace our route westwards, following the Langtang Khola down through Langtang village to GhoraTabela, and on towards Lama Hotel, a small collection of lodges in the forest.Crossing through the suspension bridge and heading precipitously along a stream. You can enjoy the walk going through oak, rhododendron and bamboo forests. There is also a variety of wildlife in these forest to look.We leave Kyanjin and retrace our route westwards, following the Langtang Khola down through Langtang village to GhoraTabela, and on towards Lama Hotel, a small collection of lodges in the forest.Crossing through the suspension bridge and heading precipitously along a stream. Meals included: B, L, D
 

Day 9 : ThuloSyabru (2285) 5 to 6 hours

We continue down the valley. After crossing the Langtang Khola Bridge our trail undulates through the forest and finally climbs steeply up to ThuloSyabru (2,285m) where we stop for the night. Meals included: breakfast/lunch/dinner
 

Day 10 : Sing Gompa (3350m) 5 to 6 hours

We begin with a long steep climb out of Syabru, passing through scrub forest and the occasional settlement among the fields, and then through magnificent rhododendron thickets, until we reach the top of the ridge and the small monastery at Sing Gompa. Meals included: B, L, D
 

Day 11 : Gosainkunda (4460) 5 to 6 hours

Today we follow the ridge for most of the day. We will have fantastic panoramic views of the Annapurnas, Himalchuli, Manaslu and GaneshHimal to the west and Langtang Himal to the north-east. After crossing to the south side of the ridge,we descend and catch sight of the first of the holy lakes. The third lake, Gosainkund, at 4,380m, is particularly sacred and a place of pilgrimage in the summer. It is said to have been created when the god Shiva, suffering from thirst due to a poison, thrust his trident into the mountainside, whereupon three streams burst forth and ran together to form the lake. We stay close to a shrine by the lake, where there are a few pilgrim shelters. As the sun sets the reflection on the lake is incredible as the lake becomes one shimmering mass of gold. It is a truly magnificent sight. Meals included: B, L, D

Day 12 : Ghopte (3440m) 7 to 8 hours

The trail climbs gradually through bare and rugged terrain, passing four smaller lakes before we reach the summit of the Laurebena Pass at 4,610m. There are magnificent views to the north and west, and as we descend there are superb panoramic vistas over the Nepal midlands. After descending we continue along a delightful trail through rhododendron forest, with splendid views to the south. Meals included: B, L, D
 

Day 13 - 14 : GulBhanjyang / Chisopani 7 to 8 hours

Two relatively long days follow taking us through the unspoilt and culturally interesting Helambu valley.The villages of Helambu are inhabited by Sherpas whose language, culture and dress are very different from the SoluKhumbuSherpas. We continue walking through thick rhododendron forest before descending steeply into open landscape. Further on are forests of giant Himalayan oak, with very few branches due to the local custom of cutting branches for animal fodder. There are fine views back to the Langtang and JugalHimals, and if it is clear other ranges can also be seen. We pass through the well maintained villages of GulBhanjyang (2,142m.)andPatiBhanjyang. A fairly steep climb brings us to open pastures, more forest and then the summit of the ridge,from which there is a magnificent view of the Himalaya Annapurna in the west Everest in the east. We spend the last night on trek at Chisopani. Meals included: B, L, D
 

Day 15 : Kathmandu

A short walk brings us to the road, from where we pick up our transport for the short drive to our hotel in Kathmandu. The rest of the day is free to do some souvenir shopping or further sightseeing. Your final night in Kathmandu offers you the chance to go out to town and enjoy a final dinner (optional) with your travelling companions and newfound friends. Day 16 : International Departure

Your trip comes to an end today after breakfast. Your leader will be on hand to advise and assist with your onward travel arrangements. A departure transfer to the airport is included.
